We went to a Wedding celebration of very dear friends (Carolyn Conners and her groom Tan Akhtar) in Garden City New York, this last weekend. We drove down Saturday morning and stayed on Long Island.
This is Tan and Carolyn
This is the wedding couple and his parents.
Here's another blissful couple.
Sunday morning we got up and took the Long Island Railroad from Carle Place into NYC.
We got off at Penn station and just started walking everywhere. The 1st landmark we saw was Madison Square Garden.
It was very hot and muggy. We were headed uptown and i saw the ESB and i had to walk to it.
Oh...i got a part time job at FedEx "Office" in Portsmouth NH hence the photo this was also very near ESB.
The Library wasn't open yet so we kept on walking.
Around Times SQ. .................
.......We took a couple of side trips to visit some "old stomping" grounds.
Tricia in front of the Algonquin. More to follow about the Algonquin.
Tricia at the Millennium.
We keep walking uptown via 5TH AVE. thank God it was Sunday. This was the diamond district and Tricia's bobble would have to wait till next time we were there on a week day.
As we moved uptown; i'll let you figure out the landmarks. Keep in mind we were still walking up 5th.
Around 61st i think at the "Park"; Tricia was getting tired so we sat and she called her Dad on Father's Day......
Sam wanted to go downtown to see the sights so we jump on the red "1" and took it all the way down to South Ferry.
We both wanted to see "Lady Liberty"; so we took The Staten Island ferry over and back. Note a couple of things by this time it was a God send to be on the water .....it was a lot cooler. 2nd how lucky were we that we got the "Guy Molinari".
When we got back i had to go to the Frances Tavern i was sorry it was closed but it was Sunday. i am so very very fond of the "financial" district. There such a sense of the human spirit, history, America and capitalism. i just love it!!!
St Paul's Cathedral
This used to be the tallest building before the ESB....you guess !!!
Around City Hall .............
We were getting tired and hungry so we jumped on a cross town around Canal Street and went to _________- Tricia and i have created some very fond memories. Here's a hint we also had a round table.
Time was slipping away from us because we had to catch the train back to "Longg-Ga-island".
this was hurrying to Penn station.
We just made the 2nd to last train. Whewwww.......What a night
Monday morning got up early we drove out to the end of Long Island, Orient Point NY and took ferry to New London Conn.
we just made the 11:00 of course we were the last ones and they let us on.
and we lucked out very cool and foggy we had been so hot on Sunday.
This was coming into New London .
We know that the following is The Cape Henlopen Ferry which was built as a World War II landing craft (LST 510) and participated in the D-day invasion at Normandy.
